Its scientific name is 1,1, 3-tri-butane (2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl). White to off-white crystalline powder. An excellent phenolic antioxidant. Tasteless. Odourless. Low toxicity. Melting point 185 ~ 188℃. No pollution, good heat stability. Used for polypropylene, ABS resin, polyethylene, PVC, etc. The 6-tert-butyl m-cresol was produced by the interaction of m-cresol and isobutylene, and then was condensed with butenal.
