Dibutyl phthalate is the most commonly used plasticizer of polyvinyl chloride, which can make the products have good softness, but the volatilization and water extraction are larger, resulting in poor durability. Dibutyl phthalate is an excellent plasticizer of nitrocellulose with strong gelation ability and good softening effect for nitrocellulose coatings. Stability, flexibility, adhesion and water resistance are better than other plasticizers. Dibutyl phthalate can also be used as a plasticizer for polyvinyl acetate, alkyd resin, nitrocellulose, ethyl cellulose, neoprene rubber and nitrile rubber.
