PVC production employs the suspension polymerization process when manufacturing PVC. KURARAY POVAL™ is used in the initial process of creating the suspension solution with vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and water. When used as a dispersing agent, KURARAY POVAL™ improves surface-active performance of VCM. It impacts PVC’s physical properties in a number of ways, including grain morphology, grain absorption, grain size, and bulk density. This allows PVC producers to create custom, specialized PVC grades for their end users.

As technology has improved, so has the speed of polymerization. Improved heat removal requires better dispersing agents compared to current market standards which use cellulose derivatives. Dispersing agents like KURARAY POVAL™ have become more and more critical in order to improve efficiency during the suspension polymerization process.
